Originally from Charles City, IA, Dr. Wedekingcompleted her undergraduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. She went on to obtain her Doctorate in Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, graduating Cum Laude in 2013.
Upon receiving recognition for her interest in low vision and ocular disease, Dr. Wedeking proceeded to complete residency at the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in West Haven, CT, where she gained clinical experience in the treatment and management of various ocular diseases including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. She also became an expert in low vision optometry and managing vision problems associated with acquired brain injury. Both during and after residency, Dr. Wedeking practiced in several different optometric modalities before joining Apple Valley Eye Care:

Dr. Wedeking provides meticulous ocular health and functional vision assessments to diagnose and treat patients of all ages. She is devoted to helping people and has traveled as far as Kenya, Africa to provide eye care on a VOSH mission in 2011. As an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association, Dr. Wedeking hopes to continue growing her practice and enjoying Minnesota. Outside of the office, Dr. Wedeking stays busy as a wife and mother to her two children. She enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, journaling, and painting. We’re sure her warm smile and compassionate demeanor will make your office visit a positive experience!
